Under the experienced direction of Henry Russell, Richard Fox, and six other team leaders we will build most of the frame components, including 18 meter long Belfast roof trusses, using locally sourced timber from the Forest of Dean. Once assembled these will be lifted into place by cranes and joined together ready for the roof.

We need people who have practical skills and work well in a team. The teams of between 5 and 10 people will have specific goals and work will start the last week of term. Whilst team leaders will staying for the entire four week period, we anticipate the make-up of the teams will change as the majority of members will come for shorter periods

Whatever your skills, you will benefit the project. The school will participate in the work during the first week and some older students will join the teams for longer. Whether you are a trained carpenter, builder or DIY’er wishing to expand your skills from shelves to trusses, or you can massage tired muscles, enjoy looking after children, love cooking food or washing-up, come and join us in this exciting and important venture.

Where will I stay?

We expect a significant number, especially those from further away, will wish to pitch up their tents at the camp. We will provide a full and free catering service for those working on the project, excellent entertainment, fun and creative childcare, first aid, health and safety advice and much much more. Bring your tent and camp or if you prefer we can arrange bed and breakfast accommodation with host families.

What are you building?

When completed, the New Hall will provide Wynstones with a space where the whole school can comfortably gather. It will include a full size basketball court and have retractable tiered seating, a demountable stage system and built-in gym facilities. Adjoining it, there will be changing rooms, showers, WCs, storage space for gym and stage equipment, an office, kitchen and foyer.

The design of the building features a timber frame construction, with block and light earth wall infill and a low maintenance raw aluminium roof. Ecologically conscious building methods will be used and now the whole school is involved in the planning and construction process.

So, as you begin to think about your summer holidays, why not add an
extra dimension and plan to spend some time as part of this unique project.
Come for a few days or longer. It will certainly be packed with fulfilling activities, the benefits of which will last for generations to come.

Leaflets and Registration forms may be available at your school office.
Alternatively, please contact Charles Crittall on 01452 813739
or email: newhall@wynstones.com

Richard Foxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08311220076174432311noreply@blogger.com1
